If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. In this Hour One Nugget, David speaks to us about interpretation or translation of public tongues. We know that the gifts are all to edify and build up the church so there is no condemnation in a legitimate interpretation. Other scripture reference: Romans 8:1

Monday May 20, 2013

Isaiah 40:11 says: 11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. What a beautiful image of gentleness and thoughtfulness! In David's Daily devotional today, we learn that gentleness is one of the great characteristics of Jesus. Therefore, it is a characteristic that we should have as well. We should be naturally gentle and forgiving...not harsh...especially with our words. 05/20/13 HON The Gifts of The Spirit Part 8--Speaking In Tongues
Monday May 20, 2013
Monday May 20, 2013
1st Peter 4:11: 11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1st Corinthians 12:7-10: 7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. In this Hour One Nugget, David Aldous speaks to us about the gift of speaking in tongues which is given to some by the Holy Spirit. David distinguishes between the 'public' gift of tongues which requires interpretation and a 'prayer language' in an unknown tongue. We also learn how the evil one will come in and try to take this gift away by trying to convince us it is not real.

You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!' Faithfulness is a characteristic we need in abundance that will preserve our faith making us dependable. We also look at faithfulness literally being...full of faith. Thursday May 16, 2013
Thursday May 16, 2013
David looks at Matthew 19:16-21 in this David's Daily Devotional. It says:
16 Someone came to Jesus with this question: “Teacher,[f] what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”
17 “Why ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. But to answer your question—if you want to receive eternal life, keep[g] the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” the man asked. And Jesus replied: “‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. 19 Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 20 “I’ve obeyed all these commandments,” the young man replied. “What else must I do?” 21 Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” David speaks to us about idols and the necessity of making Jesus number one in our lives. We are looking at Christ's character and how He lived His life because He is our example to follow.Thursday May 16, 2013

All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1st Corinthians 12:7-part of 10: 7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice[b]; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.[c] 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. David Aldous gives us insight on how to tell if a received word of prophecy is real...or if it is just rubbish. A true Word of Prophecy from the Lord has the power to change our lives!

05/14/13 DDD The Character of Jesus Part 5--Kindness
Tuesday May 14, 2013
Tuesday May 14, 2013
In Ephesians 4:31-32 we read: 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. In David's Daily Devotional today, David looks at kindness. The kindness of Christ is the same kindness that we should radiate. If we are not showing kindness, something is blocking it. Could it be unforgiveness? Do we forgive easily and quickly?

Use them well to serve one another. 11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! 05/10/13 Breaking Bread
Monday May 13, 2013
Monday May 13, 2013
1st Corinthians 11:23-31 is the text David uses today as we come together for the Lord's Supper. 23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” 25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to remember me as often as you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again. 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. 29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died. 31 But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way. 32 Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

05/10/13 DDD The Character of Jesus Part 4--Patience
Monday May 13, 2013
Monday May 13, 2013
Today in David's Daily Devotional, David Aldous continues looking at the character...the characteristics of Jesus. We look at James 1:2-3 and patience. 2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. Paul tells us the same thing in his letter to the Romans...to be patient in trouble. When troubles come...we are to pray first...then be patient. Other scripture reference: Romans 12:12

05/10/13 HON Gifts of the Spirit Part 4--Healing
Monday May 13, 2013
Monday May 13, 2013
1st Peter 4:10-11 says: 10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Amen. and 1st Corinthians 12:8-9: 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.[c] 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. In this Hour One Nugget, David Aldous continues speaking about Spiritual Gifts with the focus on the gift of healing today. Healing is controversial and not everyone believes it still happens in this day and age. However, if you ever experience or witness it, it becomes much easier to believe....although we SHOULD believe it simply because the Bible says it.
