02/15/13 HON Is Behavior Important?

Today the Hour One Nugget looks at 1st Peter 2:12 where we see that we are to be careful to live properly among our unbelieving neighbors. Peter goes on to tell us that on the day of  judgement they will honor God because of our honorable behavior! David shows us where Jesus also told us to let our good deeds shine and Paul  talks about learning to do good.  David talks to us about all of these things and encourages us to take a look at our own Christian witness...our behavior out in the world where we ARE being watched. 02/14/13 The Mike Rayson Story

Two years ago at the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Nashville, TN,USA  David Aldous had the opportunity to record this documentary with Mike Rayson.  Mike is a pastor, musician and evangelist who talks to David about a part of his own life that was every parent's worst nightmare and how he came through it with the grace of God. This is an extremely moving testimony and offers encouragement for all of us...no matter what we are facing.

This Hour One Nugget from 1st Peter 2:11 tells us that we are only temporary residents in this world...foreigners...and Peter cautions us to stay away from worldly desires that will wage war against our souls...our mind, will and emotions.  David talks to us about the worldly desires...the weaknesses...that we have that need to go!  He also talks about isolation and offers prayer for those who feel vulnerable, frightened and alone. 02/13/13 DDD Call On The Lord

Today in David's Daily Devotional we look at Psalm 145:18. We read that the Lord is close to ALL who call on Him in truth. This particular Psalm is one of pure praise and worship and King David asks for nothing, but we know he often found himself in the miry pit where he felt alone and distant from God. He is telling us here that if and when we call of the Lord, He will be close to us. David Aldous reminds us that it also says we must call of God in truth...from a place of honesty. The Hour One Nugget comes from 1st Peter 2:10 today. We see that once we had no identity and no mercy, but NOW we know we are God's people...and we have God's mercy. David talks to us about knowing who we are as God's people....who you are as a person of God!  We also look at mercy. Without Christ, without God's mercy, we are supposed to die. David's Daily Devotional comes from Psalm 145:17 where we see that the Lord is righteous in everything He does and He is filled with kindness. David talks to us about this Psalm being written at a time when King David is worshiping the Lord and not asking for anything! Our Father knows how and what we need...and when we need it. David's Daily Devotional continues in Psalm 145:16 where we see that the Lord's open hand brings satisfaction of thirst and hunger for all living things. David explains that this is not just physical food but spiritual food as well. The Bible...the inspired Word of God....the Bread of Life. David reminds us of the necessity of not just listening to others but of reading the Word for ourselves and gives some pointers on how to go about this...by asking and allowing the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Word for us in a personal way. This Hour One Nugget from 1st Peter 2:7 continues with the cornerstone which was rejected by builders, but honored by God. Peter tells us that if we trust Him we recognize the honor God has bestowed on this Cornerstone of His temple, Christ Jesus. David talks to us about being able to trust in God completely and we learn that this trust does not come from just 'believing' in God. Trust only comes with relationship. We have to get to know just Who our Father really is and just how much He loves us. We are also reminded of the total rejection Jesus experienced here on earth.....rejected by all. This Hour One Nugget comes from 1st Peter 2:6 which is an almost exact quote of Isaiah 28:16. In these scriptures we see that God gave a cornerstone chosen for great honor...a cornerstone that is safe for us to build on.....on which we are placed as living stones to be His temple. This cornerstone is Jesus. We go on to see that if we TRUST in Jesus we will never be disgraced. 01/23/13 DDD Everlasting Kingdom, Kept Promises, Grace

In David's Daily Devotional, we look at Psalm 145:13. David covers a lot as we learn about God's Kingdom being everlasting throughout all generations. We also see that the Lord always keeps His promises and that He is gracious in all He does.  David reminds us that in this beautiful Psalm, Kind David is trying to show us God's true nature...which is unchanging. David Aldous reminds us that we must be aware of how gracious God is....that it is vital that we both worship and obey God. Our last reminder today is that God loved us first!

01/23/13 HON Strength Through Christ

Today's Hour One Nugget looks at Philippians 4:10-13 with an emphasis on verse 13. We take a look at Paul talking about learning to be content in all situations and conditions and telling us that it is possible for him because he can do everything through Christ who strengthens him. The same is true for us. Without Christ there are limits on what we can do and the extent of contentment we can feel. David reminds us that God has a plan for our lives and provides the strength to do all that He asks us to do.

01/22/13 DDD We Must Tell

In David's Daily Devotional today we look at Psalm 145:12 where we see that the faithful followers will tell about God's mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of His reign. From the beginning of time people come to the Lord through the words of the telling of these things.....whether by word of mouth, ancient scripture, modern day written and electronic Bibles. That is why we must continue to tell of His deeds and His majesty and glory. David poses some difficult questions today and then prays that we will all have the courage and boldness to do what the Lord has for us to do....to continue to TELL ! In this Hour One Nugget, we take another look at 1st Peter 2:5. David talks to us about the mediation between Jesus and our Father...the 'why' of the cross. We see that this is how we are now able to go to God...through Jesus Christ, our Mediator. We also learn about the necessity of doing the will of God and that it is our job to follow the Master!
