07/12/13 DDD The Character Of Jesus Part 33–Discretion

July 12th, 2013

Today in David's Daily Devotional, we look at Luke 8:52-56.

52 The house was filled with people weeping and wailing, but he said, “Stop the weeping! She isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”

53 But the crowd laughed at him because they all knew she had died. 54 Then Jesus took her by the hand and said in a loud voice, “My child, get up!” 55 And at that moment her life returned, and she immediately stood up! Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were overwhelmed, but Jesus insisted that they not tell anyone what had happened.

David Aldous speaks to us about the discretion of Jesus. Even when we do not know why, there was ALWAYS a reason for everything Jesus did.

07/11/13 DDD The Character Of Jesus Part 32–Efficiency

July 11th, 2013

The Character Of Jesus series continues with Efficiency on today's David's Daily Devotional and comes from Ephesians 5:15-19.

15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

David Aldous speaks to us about living wisely...being Spirit led just as Jesus was when He walked this earth. Everything He did was by His Father's instruction. We are to live the same way. Talk to God and He will tell us what He wants us to do in every area of life.

07/08/13 DDD The Character of Jesus Part 31–Thoughtfulness

July 8th, 2013

Today on David's Daily Devotional, we look at part 31 of  The Character Of Jesus as we look into His thoughtfulness. We begin with Philippians 2:3-5.

3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

As David looks into these verses, one of the things we see is that we are not to throw away our own interests. We are to take an interest in others as well as looking after our own interests...if those things are God's will and His plan for us. We are not to be egotistical and selfish in this. We are to be humble and thoughtful as we take on the characteristics of our Lord.

7 “Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. 8 And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! 9 Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”

10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. 11 So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— 12 I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have!

David speaks to us about the wisdom of Solomon. We also hear about the need of wisdom in the end times, and how to receive it.
